INTERNATIONAL
"KEFF" NIGHT
Montreal, June18, 2007-
AGBU Montreal Dance Club, as its spring season’s finale organized a “Keff
Night”, an evening filled with good food, music and dance. The evening was
attended with many members of the Dance Club, their families and supporters who
had come to show their newly acquired skills in Ballroom dancing as well as to
enjoy and show off their Armenian Shourchbar dance skills and steps.
The mezzes of the evening
was lovingly prepared by the ladies of the social committee and the main dish
of two meters long baked pork cooked to perfection served with delicious
Armenian pilaf garnered with pine nuts and almond halves toasted to perfection,
created a meal from the heavens. The dessert of Baba o Rum was a nice sweet
touch to all that wonderful meal.
Jasmin the Baladi dance
teacher of AGBU Dance Club animated the evening with a special dance supporting
a lit chandelier on her head, a rare scene to even seasoned Baladi dance
connoisseurs. This was followed by a Miss Guerlain, much appreciated ballroom
dance teacher and her partner’s show casing a tango and a cha-cha to the
amazement of the present.
This followed by
adolescents impressing the guests with their newly acquired Hip-Hop dance
skills, a first for the Armenian community.
And finally the MC of the
evening Rahel Ourfalian, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Hagop and Anahid Amirian who had
agreed to donate T-shirts to the Dance Club along with a generous donation and announced a surprise for the
fathers on the occasion of Fathers’ Day. She invited a representative father
from each table and the competition was announced. The competition was for the
father who had the prettiest knees which they had to show to a group of jury
members consisting of youth. Surprised but not at all shy, to the tune of music
many fathers proudly displayed their hairy, muscular and sometimes fine legs.
The winner of the “Most Beautiful Knee” contest was Mr. Hagop Momdjian.
The dedicated and long time
AGBU volunteer and the leader of AGBU Montreal chapter Dance Club, Hasmik
Khachikian, said upon receiving accolades for the night “We expect all our
members to participate and encourage any event at our club”
This special Father’s Day
celebration extended to the wee hours of the night. The attendants left content
and invigorated.
On behalf of AGBU Montreal
Chapter, Dr. Rita Kuyumjian thanked the members of the AGBU
Dance and Social Committees individually for this well organized and fun
filled evening and wished the Dance Club to continue its work in keeping our
members happy and healthy and in good physical and psychological form.
