Euro Cup finals at AGBU

On Sunday, June 29, 2008, close to 90 soccer fans gathered at the AGBU Dervishian Hall to watch the final game of the European Championship on giant screen.

As fans for Spain out-numbered by far those for Germany, jubilation was loud and clear after Torres scored the only goal of the game, claiming a victory and the European Cup

for his country.

Throughout the afternoon, a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere reigned in the hall, as fans treated themselves to food and drink while enjoying the Finals. It was particularly nice to see parents who came accompanied by their children.

Many of those present expressed the desire to return on September 6 to watch what will certainly be an ardent game, when Armenia faces Turkey for the World Cup qualifying game which will take place at Yerevan’s Hrazdan stadium.

Members of the Sports Committee are already planning that game’s projection.

It will be one game you will not want to miss!

SOCCER IS BACK AT AGBU

HMEM Gamk with AGBU players

Over 15 youths, aged 18 yrs +, are practicing with great enthusiasm at Noel Nord park in St Laurent every Sunday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM..

HMEM Gamk team also participates with some friendly games played, which allows the players to get to know each other and at the same time improve their skills.

The soccer program is looking for a coach and will be purchasing team uniforms soon with the aim of participating in winter indoor league.

Next on the agenda will be to mobilize a team U13 ( 11-13 yrs old), which at the moment have 5 players signed up.

June 13, 2008 - AGBU Montreal Sports committee held a reception for the parents of our young athletes for their great help during the recent basketball Toronto tournament and to recognize their important role in supporting our various Youth sports programs.
